5 Essential Items For Your Fall Wardrobe

Fall has arrived! And for you fashion lovers out there, that means it’s time to break out some delightful cool weather fashions that will take you from pumpkin spice season right into the new year. Naturally there’s a massive variety of looks swirling around online and in stores, but in this post I want to talk about a handful of styles that are rising above the rest. These are five absolute essentials for the 2015 fall wardrobe. Enjoy!

1. Fringe Items

Why fringes? Because according to Celebuzz, Jessica Simpson says so! Jess is back in the fashion spotlight with a showcase of her own collections for this fall, and looking through some of her photos, the presence of fringes in everything from her tops to her handbag is noticeable. It’s a brilliantly carefree look that provides a certain delicate touch to some of the heavier fabrics and garments of the fall, and the way she’s rocking it is just irresistible.

2. Furry Shoes

It’s difficult to tell right now if this is going to be an out-and-about trend or one of those looks that’s more common on fashion runways than in real life. Either way, Elle did a wonderful lineup of fall trends, and the selection of furry footwear options was impossible not to notice. From slip-ons, to high heels, to boots, women on the runways were seen sporting shoes that were covered with fur on the outside. It’s certainly a unique look for the season.

3. Long Gloves

Sure, it’s often a little bit more of an elegant look than an everyday fashion, but up-to-the-elbow, “opera” style gloves are showing up in a big way this season, and it’s all kinds of fun. This is another trend that was listed by Elle, though they credited Amal Clooney with sparking the trend. Whether or not she really had anything to do with it, who doesn’t want to be more like Amal? Even if Clooney’s taken, I’m going to be taking full advantage of this trend this season, because it’s unique and gorgeous.

4. The Split Maxi Dress

If you need something for a few more formal occasions this fall, a full-fledged maxi dress is the way to go… with a twist. Lyst has done a lovely job of collecting a number of fashionable dresses from different designers to serve as an online look book for the season. By far, the look that stands out most is the maxi dress interrupted by a leg slit or cut out. Beyond this basic style, there are all kinds of specific looks presented: some with sleeves, others with lace, and a huge range of colors. But the core element of a split maxi is the real must-have!

5. White Jeans

Frankly this is something I’ve been surprised to see among the fall trends, but Glamour made note of it, and perhaps it should be more common for the cooler months of the year. White jeans are generally associated with the spring and summer, but with so much emphasis on black-and-white looks during the fall and winter (and that’s not changing this year), white jeans can be used to interesting effect this time of year also. Plus, it might be one more item you already have.

That should set you up with a nice start for your seasonal wardrobe! It’s always a great time of year for fashion lovers, because there’s just so much opportunity to layer and accessorize. But these five staples should be at the core of your fall wardrobe no matter what else you add to the collection!
